I woke with a taste
So unreal and strange
When I was marinating in the morning

And taking a train
In the Lancashire Rain
Found myself alone in some great factory

All the relics were out
stuffed and labelled with epithets
In Edwardian cabinets
Behind my reflection

I went on towards
Dim-lit corridors
Down tunnels and into the cathedral

Where papers were signed
And i’d made up my mind
To be (oh) so very far from anybody

Dressed up in a suit
With a corporate logo on
7 orbs round a glowing sun
The sun in the centre

And there at the back
Just next to the offices
S’where they kept the sarcophagus
And i lifted the hinges

We were gardeners and poets and cooks, oceaneering the black
Going onwards and upwards and outwards
Gathering steam

Black obsidian dream
Finger grease up the screen
Mirror-pool
Miles and miles of just nothing
Nothing at all

We was stuck in the belly of a slumbering whale
That drifts getting right to the heart of the matter
Permanent night

We were snakes in a bag cable tied
Jellied eels in a sack how we wriggled
all seamlessly stitched up
Along for the ride

Seven months a time

Oh what a cost
All all our wires crossed

Days blurring into days
Light filtering
Through the pines

Hills homes and factories
And razorblades
On your skin

Waves waves beyond the waves
The sound of it
On your tongue

Knives scraping over toast
A spiderweb
Radio
